welcome to the month of love

The month of love, February was here and most of you folks fought tooth and nail to give your loved ones or do something to make their hearts melt. Today I want to talk about love. Why the fuss? the hype? and the day itself? Well the answer to all this should be simple, it’s because love conquers all. In todays’ world, I would not give this answer and expect total secondment. Why? Because love in our world is so hard to find and keeping it is even harder, so it is a two way ordeal.

Love is defined in different ways by different people but by the end of the day, it still remains to be love no matter how we may define it. Some people don’t know what love is. Some call it a game, some use it to find fame and don’t even care if it brings them shame. February the fourteenth is a day where people cherish their loved ones and show how much they appreciate them.

I have heard some people say there is not a need for this day because one can show how much they love their loved ones everyday of the year.

This might be true in some sense but the whole idea of this day is to renew and rekindle the old flames in a world where it gets very scarce with each passing day. It’s a symbol showing how love is important and essential for humans and the world as a whole.

This should give us something to think about, something to reflect upon. Love is not some party idea, or a project to work on, or a contract of some sort. Rather lets look at it as a seed planted in us by God. A seed cannot grow if it’s not watered and taken care of, so it’s up to us to let our seed of love grow or die. It’s not all about showering your loved ones with gifts because if you don’t water your seed of love, then it’s dead. It’s like feeding a dead horse. As the spirit of valentine is still in the air, think of how important it is to spread the love and how fulfilling it will be for you to keep your seed healthy. Happy valentines day to you all and please remember for love to be in the air, it has to come out from your heart first!!!!!!!

the magic smile   by Nyanyiwe Harawa

I remember that day,
I remember the storm, the heavy clouds, the thundering sounds,
I could not see myself making it through
I thought my world will forever be blue

I did not know what to do, and then I saw you
I saw that smile
I could have sworn it made me last a mile

I saw hope in that encouraging face
I felt peace in those comforting words
I slowly saw the sun come out
I truly saw the stars shine bright
And then I believed, I totally believed there is magic in a smile

Have you smiled at someone, anyone  today?
